• When shooting, use undamaged forearm and finger protectors of a suitable size, or chest protectors.

• Always shoot only at the target.

• Shooters' clothing should be tight fitting. Loose clothing must be fastened. All strings that could come into contact with the bow during the shot must be tucked away.

• Long hair must be tied back.

• To protect the chest, empty the chest pockets.

• Choose stable footwear, preferably sports shoes.

• Do not forget to thoroughly warm up the stressed muscle parts before shooting.

• Putting the string on the bow in the wrong way can lead to serious injury.

• Never use damaged tools. Replace unsuitable and damaged strings.

• Draw the bow only on the shooting line.

• Use arrows of a correct lenght. Too short arrows can be easily pulled too much and can hit the bow and break, or they can go through the shooter's hand.

• Use quivers, you will not have to carry arrows in your hands, which will contribute to the safety of you and those around you.

• When more people are shooting at the same time, ensure supervision on the shooting line.

• Shoot only from one shooting line at a time.

• Under no circumstances should anyone shoot while anybody on the range near the targets. Arrows can bounce off targets or deviate from their original direction.

• Handle bows and arrows carefully on the shooting line to avoid hitting or injuring other shooters. Any unexpected contact with the shooter at full draw may cause the shooter to misfire, which may cause an injury.

• Archers must not draw the bow in such a way that would restrict the activity of the archer standing next to them.

• The bow must be kept in a vertical position, as any tilt to the left or right can interfere with other shooters.

• Put the arrows on the string only at the moment when all the shooters stand on the shooting line and the signal to start shooting is heard.

• Shooters, especially beginners, must avoid dangerous actions such as "fencing", throwing arrows, obstructing with the bow on and off the shooting line.

• Archers do not disturb each other or touch any shooter unexpectedly, there must be sufficient shooting space between the archers so that there is no mutual contact when drawing the bow.

• If the arrow falls beyond the shooting line, the shooter must wait until the shooters on his sides have stopped shooting before picking up the arrow. An arrow that cannot be picked up without the shooter leaving the shooting line must be picked up after the shooting is completed.

• An arrow that does not hit the target properly and remains hanging over the target should be removed as soon as you notice it. It is necessary to stop shooting, go to the target, record the point value of the arrow (if necessary), withdraw the arrow and start shooting again.

• While walking to the targets, watch out for arrows stuck in the ground or in the target. The tips can be sharp, so it is necessary to pick up all arrows that land in front of the target, regardless of who they belong to.

• Be careful when pulling arrows from the target and make sure no one is standing close behind you.

• When searching for arrows, make sure someone is standing in front of the target to prevent further shooting. If you are on your own, place a bow in front of the target to let other shooters know that the target is not free.

• It is essential to find all the arrows to avoid injuries.

• Never run with arrows in hand.

 

Use proper technique when stringing your bow:

   1st method: insert the string into the lower notch, rest the lower end of the bow on the ground, hold the other end in the palm of your hand and press the middle of the bow with the knee of one leg - when the bow​ bends enough, insert the other end of the chord into the upper notch; make sure that both eyes of the string are firmly seated in the notches intended for this purpose. 

   2nd method: put the string in the lower notch, grasp the upper end of the bow in your left hand, take a wide stance and pass the lower end of the bow behind your left calf and rest it on the right instep (the unstrung string goes in front of the feet), then push the lower end of the bow forward with your left hand and bend it. When the bow​ bends enough, attach the other end chords to the upper notch; make sure both eyes of the string are firmly seated in the notches intended for this purpose.
